Nick Mulvey is an English singer-songwriter who has listened very well to Nick Drake and Steve Reich. Partly because of his past as a steel drummer – he played the hang in the minimalist jazz band The Portico Quartet – Mulvey focuses mainly on compelling rhythms in his music. He also studied music in Cuba. It is not entirely by chance that his debut album ‘First Mind’ features African, Spanish and Cuban influences. His album full of catchy folksongs was praised and contains the online hit ‘Fever To The Form’, but live he knows how to impress even more. Last year he released his second album ‘Wake Up Now’, with which he gives his rock-solid solo debut a worthy sequel.
