Everything you always wanted to play but never dared to ask!

Mr. Probe (violin/e-guitar) and guitar quartet Zwerm play an adventurous concert with songs that the musicians have always wanted to play. After choosing six pop songs, a composer has created the arrangement for this project. After that, composers from Belgium and the Netherlands who were inspired by these pop songs have written several songs.

A concert in which famous sounds enter into a dialogue with a new sound. Popcorn, for music lovers in the broadest sense of the word!

Heavy Rotation presents Ruff Karnage!

A night of relentless breakcore, jungle, and techno overload. A live event with a performance by Rotterdamn’s ruffest dreadlocked subsonic slayer : Bong-Ra. With a brand skanking new album out called Monolith expect his hybrid sound of breakcore, jungle, dubstep and metal to punish our soundsystem and lay waste to your perception of music.

Furthermore representing Overboard : DJ Camouflage & DJ Raptor bringing the junglinst vibes and in Heavy Rotation’s corner : Nick F. & IXXXI letting techno rip up the place.

So get ready for our season finale, an epic meltdown of breaks, beats and bass! This is the last edition of Heavy Rotation for this season – but rest assured, when you’re all tanned and rested from your holidays, Heavy Rotation will be back!

The end of the season is upon us again, time for summer holidays, warm weather (we keep our hopes up!), sleeping in, relaxing… But not before finishing the musical season with a bang, with an old familiar friend: The Serious Beans Project!

Where rap meets salsa, where reggae meets jazz,where the living room meets the stage, where gypsy is played by classical hands and where nothing seems in place but sounds like many places. The Serious Beans Project is a two-year old music project. Musicians from seven corners of the globe, whose influence add to the taste of a music that sounds genuine, organic, delicious…like beans! A World Music mix, salad of global vibration to dance, jump, scream, sing, forget troubles.

Support for this evening is Trikosis. Trikosis stands for multicultural, gypsy, folk, incomparable energy and an exciting sound. You can try, but we’re sure you won’t be able to stand still on this. And the good thing is, you don’t have to!

Reason enough to come and celebrate the start of the summer with us, we’d think!

This is the sixth year for Bruis. Every year, thousands of people visit the only pop festival of this category in Maastricht.

The festival was brought to life in 2007, as an initiative of de Muziekgieterij. People joined forces with the Mondiaal Centrum, which organized the festival “Welcome to Maastricht.” By cooperating, both parties were able to offer a wide variation of acts, combining world music and a world market with pop music. The first edition was on 2 September 2007 and it was a big succes, not in the least because of headliner Viva La Fête. About 6000 visitors found their way to the market.

In 2008, the story continued with the same enthusiasm. On 24 August, all music lovers reassembled at the market. Old and young alike watched Arno and Goose, and everyone enjoyed the festival atmosphere created by the world market and the world stages. Throughout the day, about 12.000 people visited the festival.

The third edition meant expansion: the festival now lasted two days, thanks to a collaboration with the Global Culture Festival of Studium Generale. On saturday, big bands in the world music genre could be seen on stage. The day after, the party continued with among others Emiliana Torrini. About 12.000 people visited the two-day festival.

Bruis 2010 continued with the original intention: a festival for young and old where local and new bands can be discovered, where you can find a mixture of wonderful cultures and with big bands that have never played on stage in Maastricht before. Once again, there were two days filled with pop music, with headliners Absynthe Minded, dEUS and Babylon Circus.

2011 was a small anniversary for Bruis. On a new terrain (sport terrain at de Koompe) Bruis entered a new dimension. The bands: Crystal Fighters, Daan, De Staat and Black Box Revelation – and a lot more. We also added some new stages. The Bubble Stage, for young local talent alternated the bands on the main stage, offered a great platform for pop music from Maastricht. Hiphop is also huge in Maastricht, and the Urban Area goes to show for it.

In 2012, Bruis has earned a solid and permanent place in the cultural festivities of the city of Maastricht.

And now, the first names have been announced! At Bruis 2012, you can enjoy shows of School is Cool, Ozark Henry and Will and the People! Quickly check the Bruis website for more info on these awesome bands.

You thought the music season was coming to an end? No way! We’ve got another awesome surprise for you: Milow is coming to the Muziekgieterij! Milow, also known as Jonathan Vandenbroeck, reached world game in 2008 with his beautiful cover of 50 Cent’s Ayo Technology and has released three studio albums since, the last one in 2011, with singles such as You And Me (In My Pocket) and You Don’t Know. He played shows in over forty countries and has his North-American debute this year.

Milow makes lovely, sometimes a little melancholic pop songs that clearly shows his heroes’ influences (Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, Jack Johnson), but with a true Milow flavour that indicates his own ideas and tastes. It seems obvious to us: you can’t miss this, so be sure to make it to his show!

Their most recent album, Tamer Animals (2011), features layer upon layer of intricately winding and pulsing orchestrations, resulting in a panoply of sounds that really draws you into their music, both on record and live. The wide range of instruments (piano, guitar, harmonium, organ, vibes, electric harpsichord, cello, drums, violin, French horn, trumpet, keys, percussion, bass – to name just a few) ensures that the listener won’t be bored easily by this diverse sonic cornucopia.

Mala Vita is a Dutch band with South-European roots. Michel Schoots (ex-Urban Dance Squad) is part of the band. Mala Vita makes Mestizo, a musical mixture of mostly latin, ska, punk, rock and hiphop. For the ones that are looking for a reference, think of punky version of Manu Chao.
