For those of you who are not yet familiar with 65DAYSOFSTATIC: it’s a heavy instrumental rock band with pushing guitar riffs, progressive drums and a heavy dose of electronics. The heavier songs are balanced out by the slowly evolving songs, which makes this band a joy to listen to. You can hear influences from Mogwai, Oceansize, god is an astronaut and other post-rock bands. 65DAYSOFSTATIC was founded in 2001 as a three-headed band but is now touring the world with a fourth member. They have shared the stage with bands as Metallica, Lostprophets, Linkin Park and Deftones. They have been known to say they love being on stage, so that is definitely promising! You can come check them out on 5 April.
Support is provided by the band O, a six piece band from the border region (Belgium/ Netherlands/Germany) around Aachen (Germany). In summer 2010 ex-members from „Allegorie“, Dancing on Debris“, „Jack the Rocker“ and „Kings of the Day“ got together with the aim to create spheric musical landscapes. The music wants to take the audience on a turbulent journey somewhere between ambient and postrock and sometimes you can guess their musical roots found in punk/hardcore.

Skip & Die, Fellow and Bomb Diggy Crew have joined forces to bring you the Bassbraai Tropical Tour 2012! Connected by their love for club music from all around the world, they decided to set up a new club night.
Expect a night in which these three acts will bring you the best in cumbia, kuduro, dancehall, moombahton, baile funk, soca, bashment, kwaito, tropical bass and all those worldwide bangers that are today’s new club sound!
A string quartet and a six-string electric bass guitar play the music of one of the most legendary rock bands of the seventies. A singer with the vice of Robert Plant, a guitar god like Jimmy Page and most of all a powerful drymmer: John Bonham. With this project the priority is not re-enactment of the music or using it as a base for improvisation in terms fo jazz standards, but the essence of Led Zeppelin: the energy, power and strength, by means of a string quartet and bass. All together it is a conceptual, compositional and playful challenge.
Three great bands on one evening: what more do you want? First of all, we have Birth of Joy, a band that makes you feel like you are back in the psychedelic sixties for a little bit. Crunchy organs, groovy riffs and both live and on their album they play like their lives – and that of the audience – depends on it. Need to let loose some frustrations? No problem, listen to their dirty rock and get carried away!
Then there is Cherry Darling, a rock band with some experience that combines old-fashioned rock with new sounds and grooves. Dirty guitars, great bass, pounding drums and catchy melodies: it’s honest and rough rock with a fantastic live show.
Taking the stage after them are the Funeral Singers, familiar faces for loyal fans and visitors of Bruis 2011! In 2010 they started out as a fun side project, but they have grown into a serious rock band. Quick or slow, happy or dark: Funeral Singers are an unusual band that is influenced by fast-paced alternative rock and stoner with blues influences – and make sure this evening will be a party, so be there!
It warms you and makes your heart beat faster. It’s the most contagious virus there is. At least half of Maastricht has already caught it. There is no remedy. These infected people are in dire need of a central location to get together, share their warmth, overcome their stage fright and get their daily dose of music. Therefore, NOW is the time for all lovers of pop music in this city to be heard – and that’s possible on 13 March!
13 March is an important day for de Muziekgieterij and pop music in Maastricht. The last couple of months, several scenarios have been investigated for the possible (re)housing of de Muziekgieterij and on this day, the town council will determine what direction we will take. Of course, we are hoping for a positive view of the future. A view in which we can continue to grow and which makes it possible for us to contribute even more to the cultural variety in Maastricht.
We would hereby like to invite everyone to be present at the town council meeting on 13 March, to voice a positive signal to our town council. We would like to assemble at 17:00 at the side entrance of the Raadszaal, located at the Göbbelsstraat near Mosae Forum. We hope many of you will be there, so come and show your support for pop music!
After a truly spectacular outing last time with the likes of Ruckspin and Vandera back in November, MaasBASS makes a big return to the Muziekgieterij, this time with another massive guest from the UK. Razor Rekta has been with the scene right from its origins in South London, being one of the members of the notorious Anti Social Entertainment crew alongside veterans Silkie, Quest, Jay 5ive and Mizz Beats. Having recently been signed on Distance’s Chestplate records, 2012 promises to be a big year for our man, and his distinctly dark and weighty productions.
Back also, of course, are residents Dyzz & Rebus from Eindhoven, and l’argent, to bring the freshest bass vibes to the dancefloor, as well as the always stunning visuals of Azxxl. And hosting you for the evening will be MC Akespeare, keeping the crowd pumping through the night.
This edition is also a special MaasBASS for us, since it is exactly 1 year to the day that we started the madness back in the Landbouwbelang, so in order to thank all of your support, we are giving away free beers to the first 100 guests on the night!
So make sure to be there, and get your skank on, for it will surely be big! And don’t forget to like us on Facebook!
