The primal force of Highway Cruiser
Black Box Revelation’s hypnotic fourth album is a soundtrack
you can just as easily listen to on the road as staring out of your bedroom window, dreaming of the next journey through ghost towns, singing along, on the way to Eldorado.
The atmosphere is dry as a bone, hot-blooded, with an eagle watchfully circling overhead. This is the reason why Jan and Dries set off for the Diamond Mine Studio in Long Island City, Queens where analogue man Thomas Brenneck (Alabama Shakes, D’Angelo, Charles Bradley) was waiting for them.
Thomas made them go back to basics: 3 tracks, mainly first takes and no compromises, so as not to lose any of the rawness! Honesty is the best policy and this means every second is as thrilling as the next.
The Gospel Queens choir from Brooklyn was confined to their dingy garage on several occasions, but no other intruders were permitted.
Highway Cruiser is Black Box Revelation through and through.
SUPPORT: The Ten Bells
